Virtual Webcam for XP?

I know that the laptop for XP that I'm getting has a built-in microphone but I'm not sure about a webcam. I like to make videos on youtube and I use a program called Debut Video Capture to do it, which requires a camera. I know that I could get a webcam but how expensive are they? I really don't have any money right now. Also, I usually cover the lens in any case, cause I got sick of people telling me that there was too much/little light, that I need to move the camera so they could see my face etc. So does anyone know if there are any accessible virtual cameras out there that would trick my program and youtube into believing that I used a webcam to make the video? Also, has anyone found a way, short of e-mailing them, to upload videos to youtube with XP? If so, which browser and reader do you use? I always have to make the videos with the XP machine and then upload them with the Mac. Right now, I'm using the latter for everything, but it's camera makes a weird noise that's not present in the XP machines.

ON XP machines? Are you kidding? They're all over the place. My netbook had one built right into the screen and tons of full-sized laptops today also have them. Some older ones had them too, but those were usually business models. The X32 has XP Pro in it by default but I don't think it has a cam. I could be wrong, in which case, I'll be thrilled.

He's teasing you Tessa. hahaha. If you have Skype they have a camera call the buddy cam. It comes in different colors even. About $19. Any Target will get you a cheapy. I'll say they are accessible, but not exactly, in that you have to experment with the buttons to learn what they do. I mean onscreen one. I have a Logetech 9000 and it's easy to use, but on the high side. About $68 on Amazon was the lowest price I saw lately. Try any by this company. All will have a learning curve and will not be simple laid out. Use the term webcam if you go shopping in store.

I'm looking for a very cheap, easy-to-use cam. Like I said, I don't even need one if these virtual drivers work, since I mostly cover the lens anyway. I just need Debut and Youtube to see a video format so that I can upload my videos. First time I was ever called Tessa, though I've been called Stephanie etc. *smile* When I have the money, I'll be changing to Eleni both here and in real life.
